Requested Information
The request is in relation to the 2017 Attendance Area Committee (AAC) convened by the Howard County Public School System Office of School Planning. The AAC is charged with proposing redistricting by reassigning county regions known as “polygons” to new schools. According to the Office of School Planning (OSP) website, “AAC members are chosen from each area of the region to bring knowledge of roads and neighborhoods, but they represent the entire county.”
I request the polygon number for the home address of each member of the AAC. Please note that I am not requesting the home address of each AAC member, only the polygon number so that, as a member of the public, I can assess the above claims by the OSP. While transparency would be better if polygon numbers were linked to individual members, polygon numbers could be provided without names, if privacy concerns deem it necessary.
As the redistricting process is unfolding quickly, time is essential for this information, and in accordance with law I request the information within ten working days (October 2, 2017.) Thank you for your time and rapid attention to this request.
