Requested Information
This is a request in accordance with the Maryland Public Information Act, §4-101-103 of the
General Provisions Article. I am requesting copies of all records in the custody and control of
Howard County Public Schools (HCPSS), including hardcopies and/or electronic documents,
pertaining to the following subjects. The term “records” includes all: physical evidence, notes
from special education and related services staff, internal memos, notes, memos, Board of
Education reports, letters, written policy, and any documents of any kind.
1. Any and all records and written policy pertaining to HCPSS Special Education initial
evaluation process through Child Find to aid in making educational decisions, planning,
and meeting preparation.
2. Any and all records and written policy pertaining to HCPSS Special Education
reevaluation process to aid in making educational decisions regarding a student’s
continued eligibility for special education services, planning, and meeting preparation for
students with disabilities.
3. Any and all records and written policy pertaining to HCPSS' requirement that
reevaluation assessments cannot be administered based on informed parental consent to
aid in making educational decisions regarding a student’s continued eligibility for special
education services, planning, and meeting preparation. Specifically, HCPSS’ written
policy that states parents of students with disabilities must provide informed consent for
both Academic assessments and Cognitive assessments to aid in determining continued
eligibility for special education services.
