I am requesting demographic statistics for the teachers and administrators in Howard County Schools for the 2016-2017 school year (or most recently available school year). I would like statistics related to the number and percentage of teachers and administrators broken down by gender and broken down by race/ethnicity. For example I would like information on the percentage of teachers in the 2016-17 school year who identified as Asian.

Per our conversations regarding the groups of teachers and administrators you are looking to obtain these statistics on, this data was compiled by our Human Resources Office based on reporting data used for the Maryland State Department of Education, and as such the positions are categorized by type/level. These include:
• Under Instructors & Specialists, all instructional/service positions whether an elementary, middle or high school teacher, media specialist, reading specialist, resource specialist, PE instructor, therapist, psychologist, guidance counselor, pupil personnel worker, and those categorized as other/ support instructor or teacher;
• Under Assistant Principals, all elementary, middle, high or special school assistant principals;
• Under Principals, all elementary, middle, high or special school principals;
• Under Other Leadership, managerial positions other than executive staff across the system including facilitators, coordinators, assistant managers, managers, directors, and executive directors; and
• Under Executive Staff, the superintendent, assistant superintendent, chiefs and Board of Education members.
Please note, race and gender are self-reported by employees so there will be blank responses as well.
