HCPSS MPIA Request #2018-130

Requested Information
Accurate and reliable data is a crucial pre-requisite to any school redistricting effort. Decisions made based on erroneous data raises questions of staff competency, impartially and/or outright manipulation to achieve hidden goals. Not only must the data and data quality be provided to the public, the public must have confidence in the Data Architecture used for HCPSS School Redistricting. In information technology, Data Architecture is composed of models, policies, rules or standards that govern which data is collected, when it is collected and how often it is updated, and how it is stored, arranged, integrated, and put to use in data systems and in organizations. A data architecture should set data standards for all its data systems as a vision or a model of the eventual interactions between those data systems. Essential to realizing the target state, Data Architecture describes how data is processed, stored, and utilized in an information system. It provides criteria for data processing operations so as to make it possible to design data flows and also control the flow of data in the system.

Please provide any documents that are related to the Data Architecture used for Redistricting.

Responsive Documents
Please note, this document was created/updated in 2013 and although no additional existing documents reflect changes in the process, calculations and procedures, staff has updated its use as other methods were found to be more effective in the past five years. For that reason, this document is not a complete reflection of projection methodology and should be considered a referential resource only.
