2. What is the percent of African American students enrolled in GT math for elementary schools in HCPSS?
3. Is there a report released by the GT Education Program?
Responsive to this request, please find below available data on county-wide math specific gifted and talented participation for Black or African American students at the elementary and middle school levels for the most recent school year. At the high school level, participation is determined by completion of GT and/or AP courses. This includes only those students who have self-reported race as “African American” in grades 9-12 and does not include courses where a student withdrew. Please note, HCPSS has made substantial efforts to ensure the accuracy of this information; however, data collection and reporting is consistently subject to change. Please be mindful when comparing data as many variances can occur between reports based on date pulled, parameters used, categories included, etc.
Additionally, in regards to a report released by the Gifted and Talented Program, staff indicates the information they annually report to our Board of Education is that found in the HCPSS Budget books (although it does not have a breakdown by race) - see the most recent information on page 300 of this document: https://www.hcpss.org/f/aboutus/budget/fy21/fy21-boardapproved-operating-budget.pdf.
