Requested Information
I would like to see the number of calls for service to the police made by each Howard county middle school from the beginning of the SRO program until now. I would like for these calls to be disaggregated by the race, gender, disability status, and age of the student/s the call was about. As well as race, gender, disability status, and age of the caller. Thank you.

• HCPD Location Reports 11_12 – Calls for service are recorded by the Howard County Police Department (HCPD). HCPSS Security staff located the attached calls for service reports received by HCPD in the 2011/2012 school year for middle school locations – please note, no such reports could be located for Hammond Middle School or Lake Elkhorn Middle School. These reports however, do not identify demographics of the caller or others involved and include all calls from a single location and thus will reflect incidents beyond those specific to students. Further information/reports for additional years and locations not in the possession of HCPSS would need to be requested from HCPD as the custodian of such records. You can find information about submitting an MPIA request to HCPD at this site: https://www.howardcountymd.gov/PIA.
• SY11-12 Calls for Service MS Comparison – One record located by HCPSS Security staff includes a comparison of calls for service with limited information on arrests and assaults. Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), which restricts access to student records, and MPIA GP § 4-313, which prevents disclosure of school district records pertaining to individual students, we have redacted arrest description information that would reveal student information from the responsive records.
