Response Notes

Responsive to this request, staff indicates reassignment requests for students who were redistricted were handled using the existing procedures as outlined in Policy 9000. For reference, available information about the student reassignment process can be found on the HCPSS website: https://www.hcpss.org/schools/student-reassignment/ as well as on the student reassignment request form: https://www.hcpss.org/f/schools/student-reassignment-request-form.pdf. Available records can also be found under our recent response to an MPIA request seeking information on directions/guidance given to staff regarding the redistricting process: MPIA 2021-069: https://mpia.hcpss.org/requests/2021-069.

Outside the records provided above, staff indicates existing communications related to the actual processing of reassignment requests for redistricted students were specific to individual students as they were handled on a case-by-case basis. Per discussions to exclude items regarding specific students, one communication staff was able to identify that was generic/did not call out a specific case is attached below, along with a memo to the Board of Education referencing student reassignment requests.
